We are quickly approaching the end of this school year and we are already thinking and planning for the 2017-2018 school year. Part of this planning includes the careful and systematic process of class placement.
Please know that much effort is used in developing class lists. Variables such as overall academic ability, classroom performance, personality traits, social and behavioral factors, and interaction of children are used to determine the best fit for each child. Class development is a conscious, decision-making process and it is not done by random assignment. The goal of this process is to keep every child's best interest in mind and to have a well-balanced, comfortable classroom. Therefore, once class placements have been made it is our policy not to make any changes to the class list.
Teacher names are applied after student lists have been made. The teacher is assigned based on the best fit for that group of students. For that reason we will not accept any requests for a specific teacher and letters that include such a request will not be considered. Please also give careful thought if you are requesting your child to be placed with or apart from another student. We understand that there may be extenuating circumstances, which should be considered, but placing students together or apart is not a guarantee. We will look at parent requests and gather teacher input to make those decisions.
We know that you may have important information to share regarding your child's placement and welcome a letter from you outlining the following: your child's learning style, the environment that he/she learns best in, academic strengths, academic concerns, personality traits and other relevant information. All letters must be received by March 31st and can be either written or emailed. Please mark written letters to the attention of Cassandra Fry, School Counselor. Electronic letters should be e-mailed to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for believing in us and trusting us to take care of your child through this process. We are looking forward to another GREAT year!!
