STEM Student Receives Honor

Olentangy Academy STEM student Gracie M was recently recognized by The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), a national non-profit organization that works to increase the meaningful participation of girls and women in computing.  Gracie has learned many programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, and Python. She has already earned college level engineering credit and hopes to do the same this year in her sophomore year of high school. She is involved in her hig school's Science Olympiad team, the district's FRC Robotics, and YoungLife. In the community, she has helped mentor the middle school robotics team as well as teach first graders math. Her greatest technical accomplishment to date has been her animations she has made, as well as making a full working drawing in SolidWorks of a trebuchet. She is learning Python currently to code a Raspberry Pi, with plans to help improve stoplight signals for the visually impaired. Gracie would like to attend college and double major in theoretical mathematics and computer science, electrical engineering, astrophysics, or education.
